A good Plössl eyepiece outperforms a simple Kellner. Through bulk purchase, we can offer this type of eyepiece at a price for which you would get only more simple eyepieces elsewhere. Nevertheless, the features are quite impressive. The 6.3 mm Plössl is a powerful eyepiece for the high magnification range, mainly used for moon and planets. Areas of application of Plössl eyepieces: Through the four-element design, the Plössl is a true all-rouder. It does not introduce an additional chromatic aberration to the system, in opposite to more simple eyepieces with fewer elements. As a consequence, these eyepieces can be very well used for observing moon and planets with higher magnifications. At lower magnifications, Plössl eyepieces are well suited for observing nebulae, star clusters and galaxies, they convince with a field of view relatively free of distortion.Astrophotographers can also work well with Plössl eyepieces, as they are well suited for eyepiece projection. The MgF2 coating prevents disturbing reflections and provide good contrast. However, many projection adapters are too narrow for the Plössl eyepieces with 32 or 40 mm focal length.
A good Plössl eyepiece outperforms a simple Kellner. Through bulk purchase, we can offer this type of eyepiece at a price for which you would get only more simple eyepieces elsewhere. Nevertheless, the features are quite impressive. The 40 mm Plössl offers maximum field of view with 1.25" and is a fine overview eyepiece. With its long focal length of 40 mm, it is especially suited for slow telescopes like Cassegrains or refractors not faster than f/8. The image stays still bright, making the eyepiece well siuted for observing nebulae, open star clusters and galaxies, but also for centering of objects. Our Moon is the most popular object to observe with a telescope. It’s an obvious target that’s easy to locate and full of exciting geographical features to explore. Moon filters enhance lunar viewing by cutting down on the Moon’s bright glare, improving contrast and making faint details easier to observe. Amateur astronomers refer to Moon filters as “sunglasses for the Moon” because they provide a more comfortable view and reduce eye fatigue. This Moon Filter Set contains all the filters you will ever need to observe the Moon during its various phases. The set allows you to choose the best filter to use with different eyepiece and telescope combinations. Use the darkest filter with larger aperture telescopes and lower magnification eyepieces. Use the lighter filters with smaller telescopes and higher magnification eyepieces. This kit is essential for those looking to take the next step in exploring their telescope’s full lunar capability, or for seasoned lunar observers who use a variety of telescopes and eyepieces to observe the Moon. In this kit, you will receive: Three neutral density (ND) filters: ND96-0.9 13% T, ND96-0.6 25% T, and ND96-0.3 50% T —These filters dim the entire visual spectrum from 400-700nm equally. The ND96-0.9 filter transmits 13% of the incoming light, the ND96-0.6 transmits 25% and the ND96-0.3 transmits 50%. They do not impart any color to the Moon, but reduce lunar brightness. With several ND filters to choose from, you can find just the right level of light transmission for the Moon depending on its phase, the aperture of your telescope, and the magnification of your eyepiece. ND filters can also be used reduce the glare from Venus to better see its crescent phases, and to help dim bright daytime views when using a telescope terrestrially. A Moon & Sky Glow filter — This filter selectively reduces light transmission at different wavelengths and greatly improves contrast for observing subtle lunar features. This filter imparts a very light purple color to the Moon. For those in light-polluted skies, the Moon & Sky Glow filter provides some contrast enhancement when viewing deep sky objects due to the filter blocking some wavelengths associated with common forms of light pollution, e.g. low-pressure sodium (LPS) street lights. A durable plastic carrying case — The Moon Filter Set comes with a foam-lined plastic case to store all four filters when they are not in use and protect them during transit. Moon map and legend — Familiarize yourself with the Moon, our neighboring world with the help of our handheld Moon map. The Moon map comes complete with a legend highlighting 17 key features to explore including Sea of Tranquility, Tycho, Plato, Copernicus and many more. Housing Each filter is housed in an aluminum cell, providing a rigid, durable frame for the filter glass. The filters thread onto Celestron 1.25” eyepieces and most other 1.25” eyepieces with a standard filter thread. The filters have threads on the top and bottom to stack with other filters for even more light filtration options.
The Moon has the distinction of being the most often viewed celestial object through backyard telescopes. It is undoubtedly beautiful and mysterious, and is one of those constants in our lives that connects us to every other being on our planet. Regardless of who we are or where we live or travel, we all look at the same moon. It is difficult to look at the Moon through a telescope and see all of the details due to its brightness. Our eyes are not ready for the bright beam of light that emits from the eyepiece, and they “stop down”, just as they would when you step out into the sunlight on a bright summer’s day. When we’re in the sunlight, we often wear sunglasses. They help us relax our eyes, protect us from glare, and help us see things more clearly. When amateur astronomers observe the Moon, we use a moon filter. A Celestron Moon Filter provides similar benefits to those of sunglasses...our eye relaxes and opens up to let us see more detail. This is especially important when observing the Moon when it is near full. The Celestron Moon Filter simply screws onto the insert barrel of most 1.25” eyepieces. It only takes a second or two to transform your regular eyepiece into one suited for lunar observations. A Moon Filter is also helpful when observing Venus or bright terrestrial scenes. This filter is not suitable for viewing the Sun.

The Explore Scientific EXOS2-GT with PMC-8 Electronics is quite unique and special. Most of the serious amateur mounts on the market today offer single processors. The PMC-8 electronics are extremely robust. They include a 2-Channel Multi-Processor Micro-controller with 8 CPUs that run independently and are completely deterministic in their behavior, thus the name PMC-8. Within this multi-processor system is a 64 Kbyte EEPROM Non-Volatile Memory bank used to store parameters; a Wireless Ethernet 10/100 with full IP function which permits operation from anywhere using a browser, ASCOM, or APP over the web or serial port; and Non-Volatile Memory used to store user selected parameters. The electronics also includes an Auto-Guide port (ST4 contact input) and features the only wireless ASCOM driver on the market. The belt driven system uses 2 timing pulleys (1-45 groove and 1-10 groove) with fiberglass re-enforced neoprene belt connected to a Nema11 bi-polar stepper .67 amps 12ncm motor then connected to the worm. Precise ball bearings in both axes ensures minimal backlash at all nine possible tracking speeds. The included battery pack (12 V) takes eight size "D" batteries. The head rests on a very tough and rigid stainless steel tripod with adjustable 2" legs from 26.8" to 42.5" and can support up to 28 lbs. of equipment. This system is all controlled from a tablet, notebook or desktop pc with 7" display and WIN8.1, WIN10, iOS or Android 4.4 with a beautiful full graphical user interface using our very own ExploreStars OpenGoto® Software. The ExploreStars OpenGoto® Software has the same basic functions as most all other mounts on the market today. ExploreStars is a free App downloadable from the Microsoft App store and GooglePlay. The basic download includes a standard 2 star or 3 star alignment procedure, over 70,000 star database, the Messier Catalog and Solar System objects. The software interface features a Classic four-button pattern for guiding, centering, moving and slewing on the touch screen of your tablet or phone. Pull-down menus open to offer the intuitive 2 star and 3 star alignment procedure, selection of the various catalogs, guided tours, the sync button, the park position, search feature and the coordinate input screen to enter RA and DEC coordinate information. Numerical key pad allows for selectable and user enterable GOTO speeds for slewing, centering and guiding rates. You can also set sidereal, king, lunar, solar, and user defined tracking rates. What makes this software different is that YOU can write your own code and import it into this software. Create a Messier challenge. Baader OTP Outdoor Telescope Power 19WThis 12.8 volt /1.5 Amp switching power supply with protective-disconnect plug serves all Celestron telescopes up to the CGEM-DX series. At little higher price it offers enormous benefits compared to common department store indoor units.Conventional power supplies having a 12V nominal voltage are made for use in your "living room". When used outside in the cold the voltage will reduce with temperature. Already at -10°C the remaining voltage output may have gone down to only 10.5 V. The motors of many telescope mounts will behave erratic at such low voltage. Especially the motor driver electronics then tries to replace the missing voltage by draining ever more Amps until both - power supply and mount electronics - will stall or become damaged. Many users then blame the mount and it´s messy electronics - instead of checking wether an inadaequate power supply may be the culprit. The Baader Outdoor Telescope Power supply offers continuous 1.5 Amp/ < 12 volt DC voltage all accross the AC voltage range from 90 to 260volt. Even at extreme cold the voltage can not go down as far as to damage the electronic components or motors of your telescope mount.19 Watt/ 1.5 Amp permanent power ensure ample reserve for smooth tracking even at full photographic instrument load and high torque variations due to changing telescope balance. In addition to the outdoor voltage of 12.8V also the thermal working temperature has been designed for -25°C to +40°C.The connecting cord measures 2.5m in length. This is longer than usual to ensure that the wall plug portion of the power supply can be safely stored down the tripod legs so that the power cord will not become a trip-wire. The ellbowed plug does protect the power cable from accidental breakage and especially the telescope power input socket from damage when actually someone would trip over the cable. When accidentally the cable gets tightened the connecting ellbowed plug will release the cable straight, without ripping or damaging the power socket affixed in the telescope.
Conventional nominal 12V power supplies are made for use in your "living room". When used outside in the cold, their voltage will drop with temperature. At -10°C (18F), the voltage output may have gone down to only 10.5 V, and the motors of many telescope mounts will behave erratically at such a low voltage. The motor driver electronics will try to compensate for the low voltage by drawing more current (amps) until both power supply and mount electronics will fail to work properly or suffer damage. Many users blame the mount and its internal electronics when an inadequate power supply may be the culprit. The Baader Planetarium 60W Outdoor Power Supply is designed for outdoor use, just like the proven, smaller, Baader Planetarium 19W Outdoor Power Supply. Both, the elbowed disconnect plug as well as the straight pull linkage perfectly protect the power input and electronic board of the telescope against damage when tripping onto the cable. Also this protects the cable itself from breakage. Altogether the distance between telescope and power socket may reach 4 meters. This is longer than usual and assures that the power supply will not become a tripping hazard or dangle in the air. Even for larger telescopes, the power supply can be placed on the ground or onto the accessory tray of a tripod or pillar. The housing is sealed against moisture, but it is not waterproof. So, of course the plugs must not contact wet ground. The Baader Planetarium 60W Outdoor Power Supply continuously supplies up to 5 Amperes at a minimum of 12 Volts, so it is perfect for modern, powerful mounts like the Celestron Advanced VX, CGEM (DX), CGE Pro and CPC HD Deluxe. Of course, it can be used with any mount having a Celestron-Standard receptor (2.1mm x 5.5mm), requiring up to 5 Ampere.
