The ProPlanet IR 742 only allows infrared light with wavelengths of more than 742 nm to pass. One of the most important obstacles for the exploration of the night sky is the brightening of the night sky by artificial lights, such as streetlights. The night sky is not really dark in the vicinity of towns or cities, which reduces the visibility of objects bejond the solar systems enourmously. Depending on the type of the celestial object it is possible to increase the contrast dramatically by blocking the annoying artifical light. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC UHC filter uses a characteristic property of the so called emmission nebulae. Those objects glow in special colors, the so called emmission lines. Those emmission lines are linked to chemical elements - in this case hydrogen at 486nm and 656nm, plus oxygen at 496nm and 501nm. The Explore Scientific UHC nebula filter blocks all other colors (and thereby nearly all of the artificial light) and only the emmission line of the hydrogen and oxygen can pass the filter. The result is astonishing: suddenly nebulae are visible at locations that were completely empty without filters. Conventional nominal 12V power supplies are made for use in your "living room". When used outside in the cold, their voltage will drop with temperature. At -10°C (18F), the voltage output may have gone down to only 10.5 V, and the motors of many telescope mounts will behave erratically at such a low voltage. The motor driver electronics will try to compensate for the low voltage by drawing more current (amps) until both power supply and mount electronics will fail to work properly or suffer damage. Many users blame the mount and its internal electronics when an inadequate power supply may be the culprit. Skywatcher Planetary 58° UWA 1.25" Eyepiece 5 mm The new Skywatcher Planetary eyepieces are ideal when high magnification is required for the observation of fine planetary and lunar detail. Based on a modified Plössl design, these fully multicoated eyepieces are constructed with five lens elements, and are characterised by their wide 58 degree field of view, low distortion, high contrast performance, andcomfortable operation. Each model features fold down/screw-off rubber eyecups and a generous 16 mm eye relief, making them suitable for spectacle wearers. Each model features the security of rubber grips and the eyepiece barrels are threaded for standard 1.25" filters. Available with 2.5 mm , 4 mm , 5 mm , 6 mm , 7 mm and 9 mm focal lengths.
