These eyepieces with their huge apparent field of view not only gave the observer a panoramic visual experience, but they relax the eye so the observer could pay attention to subtle details for extended periods. These ultra-wide angle eyepieces played a critical role in the military for aiming at targets, and their long eye-relief counterparts helped reduce eye injury from recoil. Each 100° Series Argon-Purged Waterproof eyepiece is internally sealed and purged with inert, dry argon gas to prevent internal fogging, to halt the intrusion of fine particulates and fungus. This also maximizes the life of the internal coatings. To make sure, every 100° eyepiece is tested by submerging them down to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. All 100° Series eyepieces are fully multi-coated and edge-blackened to produce maximum contrast.
The "Wow-effect" eyepiece: You see deep sky objects as if you were in space! It makes you forget that you are looking through a telescope. This makes up for an unforgettable observing experience, that even exceeds the expectations of demanding amateur astronomers. Of course, it has the same specifications as the already well established 100° eyepieces: inert gas purged, and waterproof, the high-end EMD coatings are protected from the outdoors. Dust, fungus, humidity and cleaning solutions cannot harm the precious eyepiece for years of observing to come!
One of the most important obstacles for the exploration of the night sky is the brightening of the night sky by artificial lights, such as streetlights. The night sky is not really dark in the vicinity of towns or cities, which reduces the visibility of objects bejond the solar systems enourmously. Depending on the type of the celestial object it is possible to increase the contrast dramatically by blocking the annoying artifical light. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC UHC filter uses a characteristic property of the so called emmission nebulae. Those objects glow in special colors, the so called emmission lines. Those emmission lines are linked to chemical elements - in this case hydrogen at 486nm and 656nm, plus oxygen at 496nm and 501nm. The EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC UHC nebula filter blocks all other colors (and thereby nearly all of the artificial light) and only the emmission line of the hydrogen and oxygen can pass the filter. The result is astonishing: suddenly nebulae are visible at locations that were completely empty without filters. In suburbian skies for example the Owl-nebula M97, the Veil-nebula Ngc 6992 or even the bright Dumbell-nebula M27are not clearly visible. By using this filter you can see the nebulae and their structures without problems. A must for every visual observer. The Explore Scientific nebula filters come with a individual test certificate - your guarantee to receive a premium filter.
High power eyepieces (e.g. 3mm to 10mm) are used not only for obvious observations of planets and double stars, but can be employed for bright, compact deep sky objects. Not only will the scale of an object like a planetary nebula or globular cluster be impressive as it fills the eyepiece FOV, but the background sky will be very dark as the contrast effect increases with added magnification, provided that the atmospheric seeing conditions are favorable enough to reveal a sharp image. The 6.5mm is a popular choice for a wide variety of telescopes, producing some of the highest magnification views that most astronomers will observe at.Comfort, Quality, Value. The Explore Scientific 52° LER Series Most short focal length eyepieces are excellent flat-field multi-element oculars that can transform your visual astronomy experience. With an apparent field of view of 52 degrees, these eyepieces offer incredible value in a very nice eyepiece. Expect exceptional quality and value versus a comparably priced Plossl. These eyepieces are the choice for observers wearing glasses - with excellent performance and durability. The rubber inlet and the foldable eyecups make handling and using in the field easy. The patented EMD-coating produces high contrast images and prevents reflexes and ghosting. The argon purging effectively prevents internal fogging, and you don´t have to deal with dirt, fungus or cleansing fluids getting between the lenses. The eyepieces are sealed - this makes sure you will be able to enjoy these eyepieces for many years to come.
With the introduction of the 68° Series we are pleased to make two important improvements in eyepiece manufacture, the first being 15 layer Enhanced Multi-layer Deposition (EMD™) coatings on all glass-to-air surfaces to gain maximum contrast and waterproofing the eyepiece with the use of Argon gas purging instead of standard Nitrogen gas. Although Nitrogen is a fine choice that will last for many years, Argon is a larger molecule that maintains its protective properties over a wider range of temperatures and is even more resistant to diffusion thereby further extending the protective waterproof environment of the eyepiece body.Through computer-optimized design, a careful selection of optical glasses, and enhanced multi-layer deposition coatings, the Explore Scientific 68° Series™ eyepieces produce long eye-relief and ensure high image-correction, a flat field, and high contrast across the entire image field. An excellent choice for those who make extended visual studies of detail with subtle variations of brightness, and for those who must wear glasses while observing. All 68° Series eyepieces are fully EMD (Enhanced Multi-Layer Deposition) coated and edge-blackened to produce superior contrast.

With teleextenders it is possible to extend the effective focal length of a telescope system, resulting in higher magnification for the observation of the moon, the planets or small Deep-Sky objects with the same eyepieces. So you can use the advantages of eyepieces with longer focal length - such as the bigger eye distance and the more relaxed observing comfort - at high magnifications also. These teleextenders incorporate a telecentric optical design that deliveres a excellent image sharpness over the whole field of view and are premium choices for visual observations and astrophotography. The combination of excellent fully multicoating with superior optical design makes the Focal Extenders superior to classic Barlow lenses.
The Explore Scientific EXOS2-GT with PMC-8 Electronics is quite unique and special. Most of the serious amateur mounts on the market today offer single processors. The PMC-8 electronics are extremely robust. They include a 2-Channel Multi-Processor Micro-controller with 8 CPUs that run independently and are completely deterministic in their behavior, thus the name PMC-8. Within this multi-processor system is a 64 Kbyte EEPROM Non-Volatile Memory bank used to store parameters; a Wireless Ethernet 10/100 with full IP function which permits operation from anywhere using a browser, ASCOM, or APP over the web or serial port; and Non-Volatile Memory used to store user selected parameters. The electronics also includes an Auto-Guide port (ST4 contact input) and features the only wireless ASCOM driver on the market. The belt driven system uses 2 timing pulleys (1-45 groove and 1-10 groove) with fiberglass re-enforced neoprene belt connected to a Nema11 bi-polar stepper .67 amps 12ncm motor then connected to the worm. Precise ball bearings in both axes ensures minimal backlash at all nine possible tracking speeds. The included battery pack (12 V) takes eight size "D" batteries. The head rests on a very tough and rigid stainless steel tripod with adjustable 2" legs from 26.8" to 42.5" and can support up to 28 lbs. of equipment. Fine planetary detail is almost always enhanced with the use of color filters. Since different planets exhibit different colors on their surfaces, it only makes sense that if a filter restricts a neutral color and transmits a feature color, the contrast will be improved and more detail will be seen. Observers often ask which filter should be used for which planet, and for this question, there are no firm answers. For one thing, the colors of the details on some planets are continually changing. Also, everyone's eye response is slightly different, we're talking about very subtle detail, and the best results have to be achieved by trial and error. And since the filters can be stacked by threading them together, there are a lot of combinations to try. Antares filters are available singly and inset in the most popular hues for both 1.25" barrels. The Lumicon Lunar & Planetary Filter Set, LF5045, is an excellent "starter-kit," a set of four (4) of Lumicon's most popular 1.25" lunar and planetary filters: the LF1025, #15 Yellow-Orange; the LF1060, #56 Green; the LF1070, #80A, Blue; and the LF1085, Neutral Density 25.
The LF1110, 1.25" Polarizing Filter, is the best all-purpose lunar and planetary filter. Cuts glare and increase contrast on the moon and planets. In addition to polarizing the light, the Lumicon Polarizing Filter reduce its intensity by a factor of about 3 times. Maybe double-stacked with Lumicon color filters for use on bright planets. Also useful for daylight observation of land, sea, and nature. Fits 1.25" eyepieces. The Lumicon Polarizing Filters are made from renowned Schott- Hoya optical glass and allow for maximum contrast on viewing planetary and lunar detail. Individually precision ground highly polished with maximum light transmission coatings on both sides.
Lumicon Polarizing Filters are manufactured from optically flat Hoya polarized glass. They are the best for cutting all glare and increases contrast on bright celestial objects such as the moon at full illumination and can be double-stacked with other Lumicon filters for use on bright planets. They are also useful for daylight observation of land, sea, and nature. In addition to polarizing the light, they reduce its intensity by a factor of about 3 times.
The Lumicon Comet filter, A narrow band-pass filter system (25nm), isolates the 501nm OIII LINE and both Cyanogen LINEs RK 511nm and 514nm. The high contrast gain OF the filters reveals the delicate ionized tail OF gaseous comets, allowing you ton lake their full extent. The Comet filter thus helps you tons better distinguish gaseous comets from dusty comets which normally show little contrast gain.
The Lumicon Comet Filter, a narrow bandpass system (25nm), isolates the 501nm OIII line and both Cyanogen lines at 511nm and 514nm. The high contrast gain of the filter reveals the delicate ionized tail of gaseous comets, allowing you to see their full extent. The Comet Filter also helps you to better distinguish gaseous comets from dusty comets which normally show little contrast gain. Howard Brewington, a famed comet discoverer, says: "I discovered Comet Aarseth-Brewington, 1989a1, using the Lumicon Comet Filter. The filter doubled the contrast, making the comet very easy to spot." Why make comet-hunting harder than it needs to be?
The LF2090, 2" Neutral Density 50 Filter (ND50), transmits 50% of all incident light while blocking 50%. For lunar and planetary observing, and splitting double stars. Lumicon Neutral Density Filters are made from renowned Schott and Hoya optical glass and allow for maximum contrast on viewing planetary and lunar detail. Individually precision ground highly polished with maximum light transmission coatings on both sides. For 1.25 eyepieces.
The ULTIMATE nebula filter. The original Lumicon Ultra High Contrast Filter is unbeatable for revealing nebulosity. This achievement in filter performance is attributed to exclusively designed coatings that isolate the two doubly ionized oxygen lines (496 and 501nm) and the H-beta line (486nm) emitted by planetary and most emission nebulae. The result is superb views of the Orion, Lagoon, Swan and other extended nebulae. Useful to great advantage under dark skies.
The filter wheel is inserted between the focuser and the camera or eyepiece. It allows a quick change of filter by simply turning the wheel. The EFWmini motorized filter wheel is very thin - the filters are only 10mm away from the sensor, so even with high-intensity telescopes there is no vignetting. If you work with unmounted 31mm filters instead of 1.25" filters, you can even use objectives up to f/2, without any annoying vignetting!Power consumption is very low. You can, for example, easily operate the filter wheel through the camera's USB hub (if available). Delivery also includes a 1.25" holder if you do not wish to use the T-thread.
