It covers the whole length of the graphics card PCB, acts as an aesthetic upgrade and additionally provides passive cooling for the backside of the voltage regulation module (VRM) and the GPU core. The part is CNC-machined from nickel-plated aluminium, which is more rigid and more scratch-resistant than painted plastic.
