Van Wart (California State U.-San Bernardino) and Dicke (public administration, U. of North Texas) compile 32 readings for scholars and undergraduate and graduate students taking public administration courses involving leadership and public management. Each section is introduced by the editors and are organized by the normal causal chain of events that affect individual leaders: assessing the environment, setting goals, utilizing and improving personal traits, adjusting leadership style, using techniques in different functional domains, and evaluating success and failure in the organizational setting.
