Archaeopress Art as Metaphor: The Prehistoric Rock-Art of Britain

Mazel (cultural and heritage studies, Newcastle U.), Nash (anthropology and archaeology), and Waddington (Archaeological Research Services Ltd.) present papers on recent research in British rock-art. Chapters are divided into sections that focus on period studies and geographical or thematic studies. Periods included are the British Upper Paleolithic, the Mesolithic, and Neolithic, with a special chapter on Pictish rock art; geographical locations include Cleveland and northeast Yorkshire, Cumbria, and Northumberland. Papers can be read individually or as part of the whole. The articles are well illustrated with color photos, b&w drawings, and numerous site plans.This title provides no index.
