The Alphacool Eisbaer Pro Aurora CPU AIO water cooler is a special development for processors with particularly large CPU dies. These include the AMD Threadripper and Epyc processors and the Intel CPUs for the LGA 3647 and LGA 4189 socket. With the optional XPX Pro AM4 mounting bracket, the Alphacool Eisbaer Pro CPU cooler can also be used on AMD Ryzen processors. Large cooling surface The cold plate bottom covers the entire surface of the respective processors. The area of the cooling fins exceeds all known processor cores with an area of around 55 x 42 mm. This ensures that all hotspots of a CPU are directly covered and thus optimally cooled. With the additionally available AM4 bracket, cooling an AMD Ryzen processor is also child's play. The cooling fins are 0.4 mm thick and also have an optimal distance of 0.4 mm between them. In total there are 58 cooling fins on the bottom of the cooler. The bottom of the cooler is only 3 mm thick, which allows the heat to reach the water and be dissipated as quickly as possible. Copper radiator As per usual with Alphacool, the radiators are made of copper. Alphacool is the first manufacturer worldwide to use copper for all water bearing components such as the antechambers, the cooling fins and the cooling channels to which the fins are soldered. The connection threads are made of brass for strength reasons. In addition, the cooling fins are only lightly painted. On closer inspection the copper shimmers through a little. A thick lacquer coating would result in a reduction of the cooling capacity. The fin density is at optimal 15FPI. Therefore the radiator works perfectly even at low airflow. A too high fin density would require fans with higher speed to achieve the same cooling capacity. A lower fin density would no longer benefit from fast rotating fans. So the golden mean was chosen. Real water cooling The Eisbaer Pro Aurora consists almost entirely of actual water cooling components. The extremely robust and durable TPV hoses are used in the enterprise products for servers and workstations. The hose connections also come from the Enterprise series from Alphacool and use the standard G1/4". This makes the Eisbaer Pro Aurora fully compatible with all common water cooling products. The quick-release fastener allows easy expansion of the AIO with additional components. The most important of these are the prefilled radiators and the Eiswolf GPU AIO water cooling system. Fan and lighting The entire Eisbaer Aurora Pro cooler is equipped with addressable digital RGB LEDs. This gives a real eye-catcher in the Case. The fan used is the Aurora Rise with 140mm. Due to the special blade design, the fan is extremely quiet and the addressable RGB LEDs provide brilliant illumination. The Alphacool Aurora Rise fan convinces with a max. statistical pressure of 2.20 mm/H 2 O and offers a max. air flow of 154.1 m³/h. The PWM control allows the fan to be controlled over a wide speed range. In addition, it offers a zero control. It can therefore be regulated down to 0 rpm and then starts with approx. 350 rpm. Of course all Digital RGB LEDs can be controlled at will. Depending on the controller almost all effects are possible. How to connect everything The fans are normally controlled via a 4-pin PWM connector. An included Y-adapter for the fans makes it easy to connect them to the mainboard. This allows all fans to be controlled and regulated via one connector. Each fan has a 3-pin JST connector including Y-adapter for the LED illumination. This allows the fans to be connected directly together and can also be controlled simultaneously via a controller. For the connection to a typical 3-pin 5V connector a corresponding adapter is included. Alternatively, the included Digital RGB controller can be used. The pump of the Eisbaer Aurora uses a 3-pin Molex connector. This can also be connected to the mainboard. The Eisbaer Pro Aurora is a true multi-talent. With the Alphacool XPX Aurora Pro Eisblock, Alphacool offers a CPU water cooler specially designed for processors with particularly large processor cores. These currently include the AMD Threadripper models and processors from Intel for the LGA 2066 socket and the LGA 3647 server socket in narrow ILM design. As a CPU cooler from the Aurora Design line, the CPU cooler naturally offers integrated digital aRGB lighting. Extremely powerful The cooler base has been specially optimized for the large processor cores. With an area of 42 x 58.6 mm and 147 cooling fins the cooling area has been significantly increased. As a comparison, an Alphacool XPX Aurora Eisblock has 81 cooling fins to completely cover the processor core of a normal CPU. Both coolers use the same fin type with a thickness of only 0.2 mm. This clearly shows how far Alphacool has gone to offer the best possible performance. The entire cooler base is of course made of nickel-plated copper and not aluminium. What makes it easier on the one hand - imagine just how much more often the room would have to be cleaned if all the dirt was not collected as a precaution by the computer - means elsewhere consuming cleaning of the PC interior. In addition, dust in the housing is the main reason for overheating and thus for possible, unstable operation. Although a cleaning time-to-time can not be prevented, however, the effort can be significantly reduced. A simple and cost-effective solution are dust filters, which are placed in front of the sucking fans. Once installed, it is no longer necessary to dedust the entire interior with all its inaccessible corners and sensitive components, only the filters. DEMCiflex offers a particularly easy-to-retrofit solution, which in this case is suitable for 180 mm fans. Here, the filter is simply placed from the outside of the housing on the fan opening and is held there magnetically. There are therefore no screws or the like necessary, so there is no compatibility restriction. Since not all fan positions are magnetically attractive, an additional frame to the scope of delivery is glued to the back and on which the filter is held. The filter itself consists of a very tightly woven and durable polyester fabric. This special material is also used in clinics, for example to keep operating theaters dust-free. At the same time, the net is well permeable to air and therefore hinders the airflow only slightly. Of course, this effect diminishes with increasing dust, which is why the filter should occasionally be removed and cleaned. This is very simple in many ways. Due to the special mounting method, the removal of the fan is again very easy and fast. Afterwards, the dust can either be brushed, shaken, washed off and even scraped off with stubborn dirt. Finally, a few notes on the installation: First, the question arises, which fans have to be covered at all. As already mentioned, this applies exclusively to the sucking fans. But which are they? The safest way to recognize this is on the fan itself, with two arrows on the outside or inside of the fan frame. If one of the two arrows points towards the interior or if the rotor suspension is aligned with the interior, this is an aspirating fan. These are usually located on the front, side and bottom, whereas the rear and cover fans usually carry the air out of the housing and therefore need not be filtered. In order to maximize the filter effect, an overpressure in the housing can be generated. This means that more volume of air is forced into the housing than is being sucked out of the housing by other fans at the same time. This prevents air (and with it the dust) from entering the interior through other openings that may not have been filtered. If all fans are the same size, you should blow more fans into the housing than pull out. In this case, the power supply is to be counted as an additional, extracting fan, as long as it does not receive its supply (fan side) directly from the outside (occurs at floor mounting). If different fans with different sizes and speeds are used, the respective air volumes (m³ / h) in the data sheets give a good reference value, whereby in turn the total volume of the suction fans must be higher than that of the blowing out fans. Note: The area around the used fan slot should be flat if possible and have no protruding parts. Otherwise, these may impair adhesion to the substrate.
