FRITZ!Box 7682 is a high-performance DSL and G.fast router designed for fast home and small-office networks that combine modern Wi-Fi 7, high-speed wired networking, telephony and smart-home functions in a single device. It can connect directly to G.fast lines with speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s, to VDSL connections with Supervectoring 35b at up to 300 Mbit/s, or operate behind a separate cable or fibre-optic modem through its 2.5 Gigabit WAN/LAN port. The integrated G.fast modem makes the FRITZ!Box 7682 particularly suitable for buildings where very high broadband speeds are delivered over the existing copper telephone wiring. G.fast supports connection speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s, while the integrated DSL modem also supports VDSL, VDSL Supervectoring 35b and ADSL2+. This allows the router to cover several generations of fixed-line broadband technology without requiring a separate modem. For fibre-optic connections, the router can be connected to an external ONT through the 2.5 Gigabit WAN/LAN interface. The same capability also allows it to operate behind a cable modem or another external internet gateway. This flexibility makes the FRITZ!Box 7682 useful even when the user's internet access technology changes in the future. Wireless connectivity is based on Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 6 with a combined theoretical data rate of up to approximately 6.9 Gbit/s. The 5 GHz band reaches up to 5.7 Gbit/s using Wi-Fi 7, while the 2.4 GHz band provides up to 1.2 Gbit/s using Wi-Fi 6. This gives the router enough wireless capacity for households with numerous smartphones, notebooks, televisions, gaming devices and smart-home products operating simultaneously. The router uses 4x4 MIMO technology to increase wireless capacity and make better use of available radio resources. Compatibility with IEEE 802.11a, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11ac, 802.11ax and 802.11be also means that older Wi-Fi devices can remain connected alongside modern Wi-Fi 7 equipment. FRITZ! Mesh allows compatible FRITZ! repeaters and other FRITZ! devices to form a unified wireless network. Instead of maintaining separate Wi-Fi networks for different areas of the home, Mesh provides common network settings and helps steer compatible client devices towards the most suitable access point or wireless band. This is particularly useful in larger homes where a single router cannot provide ideal coverage in every room. Wireless security includes WPA3 and WPA2 encryption. A separate guest Wi-Fi network can be created for visitors without giving them access to the private home network, while a captive portal can be used for guest access. WPS allows compatible devices to be connected quickly without manually entering the wireless password. The wired network interfaces are also suitable for connections faster than standard Gigabit Ethernet. The FRITZ!Box 7682 provides one 2.5 Gigabit WAN/LAN port, one dedicated 2.5 Gigabit LAN port and two Gigabit LAN ports. The 2.5 Gigabit LAN connection can be useful for a fast PC, NAS server or network switch and allows local transfers beyond the approximately 1 Gbit/s limitation of conventional Gigabit Ethernet. The 2.5 Gigabit WAN/LAN interface is especially useful when the router is connected to a fast fibre-optic modem. It prevents the WAN interface itself from becoming a Gigabit bottleneck on internet connections exceeding 1 Gbit/s and gives the network greater flexibility for future broadband upgrades. A USB 2.0 port can be used for compatible storage devices and printers. With a USB storage device connected, FRITZ!NAS allows files to be made available centrally to computers and mobile devices in the home network. The integrated media server can distribute music, photos and videos using DLNA and UPnP AV, making the router useful as a basic shared-storage and multimedia hub. The FRITZ!Box 7682 also includes an extensive telephone system. Its integrated DECT base station can register up to six cordless telephones, while two analogue devices such as telephones, answering machines or fax machines can be connected directly. SIP-compatible IP telephones can additionally be registered over LAN or Wi-Fi. HD telephony support provides improved voice quality with compatible services and handsets. DECT Eco can switch off the DECT radio network when registered cordless phones are in standby, reducing unnecessary radio transmission when the telephone system is not being used. Five integrated answering machines can be configured for different telephone numbers or users. Voice messages can optionally be forwarded by email, while the integrated fax function can also send received fax messages by email. These functions can reduce the need for separate telephone and answering-machine hardware in a home office or small business. Local and online telephone books can hold up to 1,000 entries and can work with services including Google, Apple and CardDAV. Additional telephony features include call forwarding, internal calls, three-way conferences, call transfer, number blocking and Do Not Disturb functions. The built-in DECT base station is not limited to telephones. It also serves as a connection point for compatible FRITZ! Smart Home products using the DECT ULE standard. Smart-home functions can be used for applications such as controlling electrical devices and heating. Smart-home automation can be configured using schedules, scenes and routines with if-then conditions. Compatible equipment can be controlled through the FRITZ!Box interface, FRITZ!Fon handsets, FRITZ!DECT buttons or the FRITZ!App Smart Home application, allowing the router to act as the central controller for a compatible FRITZ! smart-home installation. Security and remote-access functions include an integrated firewall with NAT, port sharing, Wake on LAN and VPN support using WireGuard and IPSec. WireGuard makes it possible to create secure remote connections to the home network, for example when accessing local resources while travelling or connecting two compatible networks securely over the internet. MyFRITZ! provides secure remote access to the router and selected home-network functions from outside the local network. Parental controls can apply time budgets, filtering and device restrictions, allowing internet access rules to be configured separately for individual users or devices. FRITZ!OS provides a browser-based and app-based management environment for internet access, Wi-Fi, telephony, smart home and network devices. Automatic updates help keep the router's software and security functions current, while diagnostic tools and configuration options make it possible to manage even a relatively complex home network from one interface.
