The Celestron 1.25” Star Diagonal slides into the focuser (1.25”) of your refractor or catadioptric telescope and accepts standard 1.25” eyepieces, allowing you to view objects more comfortably. A diagonal that is angled at 90º helps avoid neck strain when looking through the eyepiece.Please note that a 90º diagonal will display images that are right side up, but left to right orientation will be reversed.
This 1.25” accessory can be used three ways: as a 2X Barlow for visual use, as a prime focus T-adapter, or as a “Barlowed” T-adapter for double the magnification and the benefit of extra inward focus travel. The Universal Barlow & T-Adapter can be used as a 2X Barlow right out of the box. Did you know that most telescopes work well for daytime viewing as well as for astronomy? If you have a refractor or a catadioptric telescope (the Schmidt-Cassegrain is the most popular example), and you would like to use it for terrestrial observations, the most useful additional accessory you can buy is an erect-image diagonal.If you look through your telescope with the standard mirror or star diagonal installed, you will notice that objects may be either upside down, flipped so that you see a mirror image or a combination of the two. This is fine for observations of celestial objects, but it can be a little confusing when you are trying to track a boat as it moves through the water, or an eagle as he flies towards his perch.Luckily, this is an easy problem to correct. Simply remove the standard diagonal from the telescope’s focuser or visual back, and install the Celestron 45º Erect Image Diagonal. Now, when you insert an eyepiece, objects will be right side up and left-to-right correct. The 45º angle of this Amici prism diagonal is very comfortable for daytime observations, where the telescope is often in a horizontal position.Please Note: Adding an erect-image diagonal to a Newtonian reflector will not result in images that are right side up and left-to-right correct. The optical design of a Newtonian will always produce images that are rotationally off in orientation. This does not mean that you can’t use a Newtonian reflector during the day, it just means that you have to get used to objects oriented in unrealistic positions.

The Celestron Heavy-Duty Alt-Azimuth Tripod is really useful when you want to do hands-free viewing through giant binoculars or a spotting scope. It is also a nice match for small to medium-sized telescopes, like the Celestron C90 or C5.The aluminum legs of the Celestron Heavy-Duty Alt-Az Tripod are fully adjustable to best match the height you require. Minimum height is 32 inches, and the maximum extended height is 45 inches. A center brace stabilizes the legs in place when the tripod is open, and a metal accessory tray is fitted to the center of the brace, or spreader bars, allowing you to store a few accessories close at hand.The alt-azimuth tripod head is made of metal and is controlled in two ways. To make large adjustments in altitude, simply grab the mount and move it to the desired location. A friction clutch installed in the head will hold it in position. Large movements in azimuth can be achieved by loosening the azimuth lock and then manually moving the mount. It can spin 360º with the lock disengaged. Small movements are best made by turning the slow-motion control handles. They work great for following objects as they move across the night sky.Equipment is mounted on the alt-az tripod head by a 1/4”- 20 thread mounting bolt that is captured in the mounting plate. The mounting bolt is free to slide along a slot cut in the mounting plate, allowing the user to adjust the forward and aft location of the telescope, spotting scope, binocular mount adapter, or camera. The purpose here is to keep your equipment centered over the tripod as best you can. Refractor telescopes and cameras with long lenses will be less stable if they sit too far forward, so the ability to make adjustments to the balance point is a nice option.
