Conventional nominal 12V power supplies are made for use in your "living room". When used outside in the cold, their voltage will drop with temperature. At -10°C (18F), the voltage output may have gone down to only 10.5 V, and the motors of many telescope mounts will behave erratically at such a low voltage. The motor driver electronics will try to compensate for the low voltage by drawing more current (amps) until both power supply and mount electronics will fail to work properly or suffer damage. Many users blame the mount and its internal electronics when an inadequate power supply may be the culprit. The Moon has the distinction of being the most often viewed celestial object through backyard telescopes. It is undoubtedly beautiful and mysterious, and is one of those constants in our lives that connects us to every other being on our planet. Regardless of who we are or where we live or travel, we all look at the same moon. It is difficult to look at the Moon through a telescope and see all of the details due to its brightness. Our eyes are not ready for the bright beam of light that emits from the eyepiece, and they “stop down”, just as they would when you step out into the sunlight on a bright summer’s day. When we’re in the sunlight, we often wear sunglasses. They help us relax our eyes, protect us from glare, and help us see things more clearly. In this kit, you will receive: Three neutral density (ND) filters: ND96-0.9 13% T, ND96-0.6 25% T, and ND96-0.3 50% T —These filters dim the entire visual spectrum from 400-700nm equally. The ND96-0.9 filter transmits 13% of the incoming light, the ND96-0.6 transmits 25% and the ND96-0.3 transmits 50%. They do not impart any color to the Moon, but reduce lunar brightness. With several ND filters to choose from, you can find just the right level of light transmission for the Moon depending on its phase, the aperture of your telescope, and the magnification of your eyepiece. ND filters can also be used reduce the glare from Venus to better see its crescent phases, and to help dim bright daytime views when using a telescope terrestrially. A Moon & Sky Glow filter — This filter selectively reduces light transmission at different wavelengths and greatly improves contrast for observing subtle lunar features. This filter imparts a very light purple color to the Moon. For those in light-polluted skies, the Moon & Sky Glow filter provides some contrast enhancement when viewing deep sky objects due to the filter blocking some wavelengths associated with common forms of light pollution, e.g. low-pressure sodium (LPS) street lights. Nevertheless, the features are quite impressive.The 6.3 mm Plössl is a powerful eyepiece for the high magnification range, mainly used for moon and planets. Areas of application of Plössl eyepieces: Through the four-element design, the Plössl is a true all-rouder. It does not introduce an additional chromatic aberration to the system, in opposite to more simple eyepieces with fewer elements. As a consequence, these eyepieces can be very well used for observing moon and planets with higher magnifications.At lower magnifications, Plössl eyepieces are well suited for observing nebulae, star clusters and galaxies, they convince with a field of view relatively free of distortion.Astrophotographers can also work well with Plössl eyepieces, as they are well suited for eyepiece projection. The MgF2 coating prevents disturbing reflections and provide good contrast.However, many projection adapters are too narrow for the Plössl eyepieces with 32 or 40 mm focal length.
