These Ultra Soft thermal pads nestle much better to components, which contributes to a significant improvement in cooling performance.Better than standard thermal pads?The material of the Ultra Soft thermal pads acts similar to a thermal paste. While normal thermal pads are only pressed together by the contact pressure there can be areas that are uneven due to different high components, making them less effective. With the ultra soft Eisschicht this problem doesn’t exist because the material distributes itself similar to thermal paste and thus prevents the highest components from being subjected to increased contact pressure by the cooler. As standard thermal pads are quite stiff they can also cause too much pressure on components. In the worst cases, this can cause the PCB to bend and even break. Due to the soft consistency of the Ultra Soft Eisschicht any excess material can spread out rather than cause problems. The Ultra Soft Eisschicht is not only performance orientated, but also safer!But this is not the only advantage!Moreover, the special material cannot dry out. Usually the silicone in thermal pads bleeds out over time. This makes them hard and the performance of the pads drops rapidly from a certain point. With the Alphacool Eisstation, you get a compact reservoir that fits into nearly any case. It comes in three different versions. A DDC, a D5, and a DC-LT version are available. Note: The Alphacool VPP Apex pump (13339) is not compatible with this reservoir. The Eisstation can be screwed onto a 2.5” SSD bracket. It can also be mounted in a 3,5” bay. In either case, the special decoupling screws included with the Eisstation are used for mounting it. This minimises the transfer of vibrations to the case, lowering the operating volume significantly. Another installation option is the included Velcro fastener. One part of the Velcro is glued to the bottom of the Eisstation, while the other part is glued to the case. Then all that’s left is to press the Eisstation’s bottom against the corresponding Velcro on the case. The size of the Velcro ensures secure positioning even during transport. The Eisstation can be mounted vertically or horizontally, depending on personal taste and available space. Connection possibilitiesThere are four possibilities for connection. An IN and an OUT with G1/4 threads are located on the top, with the illuminated logo. In the cap, there is one G1/4” and one G3/8” connection available. The G3/8” connection, with its larger size, simplifies filling the Eisstation and can also serve as a lighting module for 5mm LEDs. Two additional 5mm LED places can be found in the bottom of the reservoir and illuminate the water-filled portion from below. A highlight of the Eisstation is the materials it is composed of.
