The next generation - The Alphacool Eisblock Aurora water cooler for Geforce RTX 4XXX graphics cards. In order to dissipate the enormous heat of this graphics card generation in the best possible way, numerous optimizations have been made to the water cooler compared to the previous model. The fin structure was adapted and enables a very good water flow while increasing the cooling surface. The modified jet plate with improved inflow engine ensures an optimal distribution of the water on the cooling fins.Technical HighlightsThe fin structure of this Eisblock cooler generation was developed together with Nvidia board partners. The fin thickness is 0.4 mm, the distance between the cooling fins is 0.4 mm. This ensures a very good water flow while increasing the cooling surface. The jet plate has a revised inlay that spreads the water pressure better over the fins thus optimizing the heat absorption. The adjusted water inflow gives the water a better angle of inflow.Chrome-plated copperThe cooler is made entirely of chrome-plated copper. A chrome plating is much harder than a nickel plating and therefore less sensitive to acids, scratches and damage. It completely eliminates the risk of chipping nickel plating. Additionally, chrome plating looks much more homogeneous and provides a shine that cannot be achieved by nickel plating. Chrome-plated coolers have previously only been used in the industrial sector in areas where extreme influences act on the coolers. DesignThe Aurora design of the Geforce RTX 4XXX Eisblock generation is visually calmer and simpler. Only one O-ring runs around the entire cooler. The design around the cooling fins and jetplate makes for a cleaner look. The illumination of the digitally addressable RGB LEDs is even better distributed throughout the cooler as a result of the chrome plating. The terminal's design is in line with the classic Aurora design.Thermal paste & thermal padsThe included thermal compound is Alphacool's Subzero. With a thermal conductivity of 16 W/mK, it is one of the highest performing thermal pastes on the market. The electrically non-conductive thermal compund is particularly well suited for high contact pressures, but can still be processed perfectly due to its viscosity of 850,000 TF. Alphacool Soft Pads with 1mm thickness are used on the voltage converter and the graphics memory. The thermal conductivity of the pads is 7 W/mK. The pads for the back of the PCB are 3mm thick and have a thermal conductivity of 3 W/mK. However, it cannot be guaranteed that the assembly of each backplate is possible because there are many different backplates and screws. It is also possible that the original backplate has fewer screw threads than intended so if you have a few left over, don’t worry. The Alphacool Eisblock XPX 1U is the Enterprise Solutions version of the well-known and popular Eisblock XPX CPU water cooler. It has been specially optimized for use in 1U server racks and has extended connection options. This allows for more connection options in the very tight 1U server racks and integrate it easily into a cooling loop.Many Connection OptionsThanks to its extremely flat design, the Eisblock XPX 1U fits into any 1U server case. Due to the flat design of a 1U server rack, no inlets or outlets can be used on top of the CPU cooler as the total height of the CPU cooler including the fittings would no longer fit. Therefore, the Eisblock XPX 1U has further connection possibilities on the side of the cooler. There are altogether 3 x IN and 4 x OUT, with 2 x In and 3 x OUT mounted on the side. Straight fittings up to a size of 13/10 mm can be connected at the side. The Alphacool TPV connectors, which were specially developed for the Enterprise Solutions series, are ideal. Larger fittings can be used, but only in specific circumstances with angled adapters. The fittings on top of the CPU cooler can of course be used as usual with all connections up to a size of 16 mm outside diameter, no matter whether for soft tube or HardTubes.High PerformanceThe Eisblock XPX has been called the most powerful CPU water cooler by many independent media. This also applies to the Eisblock XPX 1U as it contains the same technology. The only slight change is to the patented ramp system for optimal waterflow. The Alphacool XPX Aurora Pro Light is the little sister of the XPX Pro CPU liquid cooling block. It offers a clearer design but does without the ramp system of the XPX Pro models. This eliminates the view of the water channels, giving a much clearer look to the coolant. Like the other XPX Pro models, the cooler has been specially optimized for AMD Threadripper, Intel LGA 3647 and 2011/2066 processors.How is the CPU cooler illuminated?As with all new Eisblock CPU water coolers, Alphacool uses an integrated aRGB solution. Under the black frame there are 14 Digital RGB LEDs are mounted around the entire cooler. Each of these 5V aRGB LEDs can be controlled separately. This means that all known effects are possible, depending on the selected controller. There are controllers are available from Alphacool, but also many mainboards offer a 3-pin 5V aRGB connector to control the LEDs of the Eisblock Aurora Pro Light. And just like that, you have a system with the power of the D5 pump. On the back: On the right side of the back are two display spaces for 5mm LEDs, behind the window panel. The step towards perfectionThe new Alphacool AGB comes in three different models. You can either connect a Laing DDC, the Alphacool DC-LT or the Laing D5/Alphacool VPP655 at the backplate depending on the model which you use. The brushed plate provides an optical finishing touch which is underlined by the high quality processing. The front consists of a scretch-secure soft-touch surface painted in black-matt. The Eisfach is mounted in two of the front 5,25" bays which provides a good overview of the container and the fill level is easily being checked through the lighted window at the back. Additionally, the Alphacool logo in the front can be lighted by connecting the 3-pin connector with a power source. A lot of details complement the first impression! Two 1/4" holes at the top side are available for the first filling. To refill you can simply remove and extract the fillport in the front and two 1/4" holes at the bottom side facilitate the draining of the liquid. There are two lighting modules at the right hand side at the back of the container behind the window for 5mm LEDs. This provides a unique opportunity for personalised lighting and optic. Further two holes at the left hand side provide additional opportunities to fill or drain the liquid. The last two 1/4" threads are used to fill or drain the container. High Flow SensorThe Eisfluegel is designed for high flow systems and can display a water flow rate of 70 to 300L/h. The Eisfluegel is connected via the 3-pin header to a fan header on the mainboard. Thermal compound is an issue that many users underestimate. While you usually don't want to compromise on the performance of an air or water cooler, the thermal paste often receives little attention. Yet it is the link between the heat source and the cooler. The thermal paste ensures a clean contact between the CPU or GPU and the cooler. It is therefore essential to use a good thermal compound if you want your high-end cooler to perform at its best. This is especially true if you own a water cooling system.Alphacool Eisfrost Xtreme is a high-performance liquid metal thermal compound. Conventional thermal conductive pastes usually use silicone as a base. These are often mixed with silver or similar metals to increase the cooling performance. Nevertheless, the cooling capacity of a liquid metal thermal compound is many times higher. This is because the thermal conductivity of conventional heat-conducting pastes is significantly lower than that of Alphacool Eisfrost Xtreme liquid metal heat-conducting paste. This means that the heat is transferred much faster and more effectively from the processor or graphics card to the cooler, for example.This is particularly noticeable when overclocking. The higher the heat dissipation, the more noticeable the performance of the liquid metal.
