The DGS-1008P PoE Gigabit Desktop switch provides a cost-effective way for SOHO and SMB to benefit from the Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology by allowing users to power up devices such as wireless access points, network cameras or IP phones directly from the network cables. The DGS-1008P is equipped with Gigabit ports for faster speeds, and integrates D-Link's Green Ethernet technology to save power when the switch is not in use. Its fanless design makes it completely silent so it is ideal for offices, libraries or meeting rooms. The first four ports of the DGS-1008P support the IEEE 802.3af PoE standard. Each of these four ports can supply up to 15.4 Watts, making it a very convenient solution for applications that are far away from power outlets, or when it is necessary to minimize the clutter of extra power supplies. The switch will automatically detect the power that a connected PoE device requires so no configuration is needed. A failsafe mechanism will cut off the power in case of an unexpected PoE overload, protecting both the switch and the connected device.Every time the DGS-1008P is powered up, it runs a micro diagnostics routine to check the integrity of the connected Ethernet cables. If a failure is detected, the switch will flag it by means of its front panel LEDs, making it easy for the user to troubleshoot wiring problems.Despite being an unmanaged, Plug and Play switch, the DGS-1008P is able to classify network traffic by assessing the existing 802.1p and DSCP fields in the Ethernet frames and IP packets respectively, and forward them out of its ports depending on their priority. This allows for a smooth integration of video, voice and data traffic without delays or loss of quality. The DGS-1008P is part of D-Link Green, D-Link's eco-friendly technology, providing energy savings, reduced power consumption, and a longer product lifespan without sacrificing operational performance or functionality. This switch implements the Green Ethernet technology, which can save a substantial amount of energy by detecting the connected cable lengths, adjusting the power accordingly; and the port status, putting them in low-power, stand-by mode when no network traffic is detected. Thanks to these power reductions, D-Link has been able to remove the fans in the DGS-1008P's design, making it completely silent and dramatically increasing its lifespan.
D-Link's DGS-105 and DGS-108 Gigabit Ethernet switches provide a cost-effective way for small and medium sized businesses to create a small network and connect computers, wireless Access Points, IP cameras, network printers and other Ethernet devices quickly and easily without complicated configurations. These switches come with 5 or 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports with an auto-sensing function to detect the maximum speed of the connected devices, allowing you to run your network with the best possible performance. Their fanless design and solid metal housing makes them completely silent so they are ideal for offices, libraries or meeting rooms, and for industrial and hazardous environments like factories and warehouses. The DGS-105 and DGS-108 are designed with durability and performance in mind. Their sturdy metal housing will protect them against accidental harm, while helping to dissipate heat and to reduce stress on internal components. The LEDs allow for an easy reading of each port status and speed, helping to troubleshoot connectivity problems. For a convenient placement, these switches come with a wall mounting kit and a slot for a Kensington security lock to protect them from theft.Despite being unmanaged, Plug and Play switches, the DGS-105 and DGS-108 are able to classify network traffic by assessing the 802.1p field in the Ethernet frames, and forward them out of its ports depending on their priority. At startup, the switch performs a micro-test to assess the quality of the cables connected to its ports. If a fault is detected, the ambar LED will lit up. If the cables pass the test, the green LED will be illuminated, indicating that the network is error-free.
