Danach werden die wichtigsten Schachereignisse eines Jahres gewürdigt, gefolgt von Schachnachrichten aus Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz sowie einem Nachrichtenblock im Telegrammstil. Den Abschluss des Textteils bilden die Top Ten der Welt für die Monate Januar und Juli sowie ein Nachruf. Jedes Jahr wird von einem statistischen Teil mit Tabellen und Endständen bedeutender Turniere abgeschlossen. Über das ganze Jahr verteilt befinden sich Schachpartien durchlaufend in der rechten Spalte.Im Vergleich zum Vorgängerbuch gibt es eine stärkere Gewichtung auf Schach, was u.a. wegen viel mehr Turnieren im Topbereich notwendig geworden ist.
