The EK-Quantum Vector Trio RTX 3080/3090 D-RGB GPU cooler, has been further developed based on the 2nd generation Vector series and designed for the MSI Trio and Suprim RTX 3080 and 3090 graphics cards. The Vector water block directly cools the GPU, the VRAM and the VRM (voltage regulation module), as the cooling liquid is routed directly over these critical areas. The base of the block is made of nickel-plated copper, while the top is made of acetal. Furthermore, the cooler has D-RGB lighting, with a total of 9 individually addressable LEDs, which makes the end piece shine pleasantly. The lighting is compatible with all common RGB sync technologies of the major motherboard manufacturers, such as ASRock Polychrome Sync, ASUS Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion and MSI Mystic Light. Since the GPU cooler does not have a backplate, it is recommended to order a matching backplate. Such a backplate not only improves stability, but also promotes cooling performance, as it also serves as a passive cooler. The HEATKILLER® V eBC backplate is a useful addition to the graphics card cooler of the HEATKILLER® V series. Mounted on the back of the graphics card, it improves cooling performance and increases mechanical stability. This is made possible by the use of solid black anodized aluminum. The optics are not neglected either. The backplate cools relevant components on the back of the board, including the GPU and voltage converter (VRM). Pre-cut thermal pads are included in the scope of delivery. Spacers (electrically insulating) attached to the back of the backplate ensure problem-free installation on the graphics card. The enclosed mounting material is optimized for use with a water cooler from the HEATKILLER® V series. This GPU cooler from EK is a Special Edition, for the RTX 3080 Founders Edition graphics card. It features an advanced cooling engine based on the EK Quantum Vector 2nd generation. The water block has an extremely thick copper base - nickel-plated, mind you - which has a 30% larger cooling surface than the other Vector water blocks. The outer casing is made of solid and black anodised aluminium. Naturally, the aluminium does not come into contact with the cooling liquid. The GPU cooler is rounded off with an acrylic lid, which provides a clear view of the inside, as well as a connection port on the side, which is also made of acrylic. Interesting here is that the connection terminal is on the short side, which has two G1/4" connections that go away from the cooler. Alternatively, the supplied connection terminal with four G1/4" connections can be mounted on the GPU cooler. Furthermore, the cooler also includes a backplate, which additionally cools the back of the graphics card passively. Together with the water block, the graphics card is completely enclosed and is virtually no longer visible from the outside. The back of the GPU cooler is also impressive, made of silver anodised aluminium with an elegantly ribbed surface. Of course, a D-RGB illumination is not missing. This impresses with 20 individually addressable LEDs, which not only illuminate the interior stylishly, but also the acrylic terminal.
