The new Alphacool Eisblock XPX Aurora Edge CPU water cooler offers fantastic performance thanks to the patented ramp design as well as boasting excellent quality. The new Aurora design in combination with the addressable digital RGB illumination offers many possibilities for outstanding illumination of the CPU water block. Performance in abundance! Alphacool already developed and patented new flow technology for the first Alphacool Eisblock XPX series. The so-called "ramp system" ensures an even flow of water inside the cooler and sits in front of the diffuser plate. This ensures that the water is pressed evenly through the diffuser plate, which in turn pushes the water evenly over the cooling base. The cooling channels on the CPU cooler base has also been enlarged to a proud 34 x 32 mm to accommodate the ever-growing CPU DIEs. This is especially true for multi-core processors with 4, 6, 8 or even 12 and more CPU cores. So that the heat from the CPU can be transferred to the water as quickly as possible. 81 cooling fins can be found on the cooling plate to ensure maximum heat diffusion. The fin structure has been reduced to just 0.2 mm in order to create the largest possible surface area in the smallest possible space. And the lighting? All new Eisblock XPX Aurora Edge CPU waterblocks come with addressable digital RGB lighting. The aRGB LEDs are integrated directly into the CPU water cooler and run once around the entire cooling block. With up to 15 digital RGB LEDs the entire CPU block is evenly and intensively lit. Of course, the brightness can be controlled by an appropriate controller. And as with all aRGB LED products all known effects can be created. From simple colour changes to wave effects and rainbow lighting, everything is possible. Of course, the Alphacool Eisblock Aurora coolers can also be connected and controlled via mainboards using the standard 3-pin 5V connector. The cable also has an integrated Y-adapter. This makes it easy to connect further Alphacool Aurora products in series without having to order separate Y-adapters. Extension cables may be needed if you want to connect the products in series, depending on the size of the case. Is installation difficult? Mounting the XPX Aurora Edge Eisblock cooler is simple. The backplate is simply attached to the mainboard from behind. The mounting frame for the AMD or Intel socket is clamped to the cooler and the corresponding mounting screws are pre-attached to this frame. Next, you simply apply thermal paste and you attach the cooler using the screws. Please note: Remove the protective foil on the cooler base before use! Unique Aurora Design The Alphacool Eisblock Aurora Edge has been significantly changed in some points to its predecessor, the Eisblock XPX. The lower part of the cooler is completely made of brass and no longer of plexiglass or transparent nylon. This changes the overall feel and quality of the cooler. Not only is it heavier in the hand, but it is also much more stable than the usual Plexi CPU water coolers. Every water cooling system requires either soft or hard tubing to connect the individual components such as radiators, waterblocks and reservoirs. PVC is usually used for soft tubing it has many fantastic properties that make it easy to work with and it is cheap. However, Alphacool is now bringing a new material from the Alphacool Enterprise Solutions series across to the everyday user. This tubing is called Alphacool AlphaTube TPV and is the choice of tubing for industries. What is the advantage of TPV? Compared to PVC hoses, the AlphaTube TPV hoses offer various advantages for water cooling. It is much more resistant to acids and alkalis. It is also much more temperature resistant than PVC tubing. The Alphacool AlphaTube TPV can withstand temperatures up to 155°C. While PVC hoses begin to warp at higher water temperatures. This means areas with tighter bends will warp but the TPV hose remains stable in its shape. This eliminates the risk of kinks in tubing and the restriction of flow. How is AlphaTube TPV installed? The Alphacool AlphaTube TPV hose is as easy and simple to install as any other PVC hose. It is slightly stiffer, but only very slightly. Handling the TPV hose is just as simple as any other soft tubing. What is special about a tpv hose? With the Core Ocean AiO, Alphacool presents an all-in-one solution that, thanks to its excellent price-performance ratio, enables entry into performance-oriented CPU water cooling. The difference to the Eisbaer CPU AiO is that the Ocean All-in-One is not expandable. Adding further components such as GPU coolers, radiators or expansion tanks is not intended here. But also not necessary! The choice of components and the design of the Core Ocean enable a long service life with low maintenance for water cooling of all common mainstream sockets from AMD and Intel. Aluminium Radiator Compared to Alphacool's full copper models, the T38 aluminium radiator has additional cooling channels. This technical design allows a significant increase in cooling capacity without restricting the water flow within the radiator. Due to the low height of 38mm, the radiator with single-sided fan assembly fits into the tightest case and enables high-performance water cooling of the CPU. Core fan The fan can be regulated from 0 to 2000 rpm via the 4-pin PWM connection. The cable is 40cm long. This allows the fan to be connected to the mainboard or a special controller without the need for additional adapter cables or extensions. At 2000 rpm, it provides an air flow of 92.3 CFM, together with a high static pressure of 2.53mm/H2O. This makes the fan perfect for mounting on radiators of a water cooling system. Cooler & Pump As with all Alphacool products, the radiator base is made of copper and is equipped with very fine cooling fins distributed over the entire base. A nozzle plate ensures an accelerated flow over the cooling fins, which increases the cooling performance. The water flow is optimised so that all areas of the cooler base are cooled evenly. The cooler is compatible with all common mainstream sockets from AMD and Intel. The built-in pump has a speed range of 2500 - 3500 RPM (+/- 10%) and can be controlled via PWM. The pump is connected to the mainboard or to an external controller via the existing 4-pin fan connector. This allows the speed range of the pump to be controlled and monitored. Hoses & Connections The FEP hoses are 40cm long, sleeved and very flexible. The rotatable 360° connections to the cooler and to the radiator are permanently installed and cannot be replaced. However, the combination of hoses and connectors allows a very variable positioning of the AiO even in the tightest PC case. Illumination 12 digitally addressable 5V RGB LEDs are installed in the pump housing, which create a unique, very noble-looking illumination. The digital aRGB LED lighting is connected via a JST 3-pin connector. To control the lighting, the 3-pin female connector must be connected to a digital RGB controller (not included) or a digital RGB-capable mainboard. Additional digital RGB LEDs can be connected to the remaining 3-pin male connector. Thermal compound The thermal paste included in the delivery has a thermal conductivity of 7.5 W/mK. The thermal grease does not harden, is particularly suitable for high contact pressures and can be applied perfectly due to the optimally selected viscosity. The new Eiszapfen PRO hard tube fittings from Alphacool are the next step in development for the familiar Eiszapfen fittings. In the development of the fittings Alphacool concentrated on a specific problem, deforming PETG hard tubes at high temperatures. PETG can start to deform at 60°C. Although such a temperature is usually rarely reached, it can still occur. The Eiszapfen PRO fittings prevent this problem from the outset and hold the tubes in position. The deformation is prevented by the new nylon inserts inside and stabilizes the hard tubes. Furthermore, the fitting still has an O-ring and a compression seal. However, the contact area is much larger than with normal O-rings, which provides a better grip. With the insert and the compression seal, the tube is strengthened from the inside and outside. Even under heavy loads the HardTube does not slip. Alphacool has tested the tensile strength of up to over 8kg, so there is no need to worry about loose tubing.
