Alphacools HardTube family does get an additional sibling. The new HardTubes made out of borosilicate glass certainly bring a new level of quality into every system. The previous method that has been most commonly used for water cooling systems is normal PVC hoses - now Alphacool introduces a new approach to water cooling. The Alphacool HardTube additionally brings more tidiness into the system which enables a further structured impression. To cut the tubes for the preferred length Alphacool recommends using a diamand cutting disc for the Dremel®. The connection for 16mm (AD) Hard Tubes from EK Water Blocks, is a compression fitting made of nickel-plated brass. It is silver in colour and comes from the Torque series, which convinces with a simple and timeless design. Originally intended for the EKWB Quantum series, this fitting is also compatible with other EK products. In this fitting, the union nut serves as a compression ring, which presses the sealing ring onto the hard tube. It thus offers a higher level of safety and sealing than, for example, the fittings of the EK-HD series. As a small feature, the union nut has a recess under which coloured rings are placed, which provide a bit of individuality and are available separately. The Alphacool Eiszapfen is a rotatable 8 mm offset fitting with one internal thread and one external thread that can be easily tied into any water circuit. Integration made easy The offset piece is very compact and can be integrated into any water cooling system thanks to its G1/4" internal and external threads. It is simply screwed onto the corresponding G1/4" connections at the desired position in the water circuit. Design The threads are 5mm deep and 5mm high respectively, thus enabling the very compact design. The new Eiszapfen PRO hard tube fittings from Alphacool are the next step in development for the familiar Eiszapfen fittings. In the development of the fittings Alphacool concentrated on a specific problem, deforming PETG hard tubes at high temperatures. PETG can start to deform at 60°C. Although such a temperature is usually rarely reached, it can still occur. The Eiszapfen PRO fittings prevent this problem from the outset and hold the tubes in position. The deformation is prevented by the new nylon inserts inside and stabilizes the hard tubes. Furthermore, the fitting still has an O-ring and a compression seal. However, the contact area is much larger than with normal O-rings, which provides a better grip. With the insert and the compression seal, the tube is strengthened from the inside and outside. Even under heavy loads the HardTube does not slip. Alphacool has tested the tensile strength of up to over 8kg, so there is no need to worry about loose tubing.
