The first step was to move the cooler closer to the individual components by reducing the thermal pads to a thickness of 1 mm. Next, we reduced the thickness of the nickel-plated copper block. Instead of 7 mm, it is now only 5.5 mm thick. The water flow inside the cooler has also been optimized. All important components such as the voltage transformers and the memory are now significantly better and more effectively cooled by the water. All this ensures a significant increase in cooling performance.New Design!The Eisblock Aurora RADEON RX 6800/6900(XT) cooler has been designed so that lighting is more important than the previous models. The addressable digital RGB LEDs are embedded directly into the cooling block and run along the entire cooling block. The effect is an illumination of the entire cooling block. No corner or edge remains unlit by the aRGB LEDs. The new design is more angular with all edges bevelled. This promotes better light diffusion in the water cooler due to the reflections on these bevels. In addition, they create various contours, which give the Aurora RADEON RX 6800/6900(XT) Eisblock cooler its very own unique identity.Copper or Aluminium?Of course, Alphacool only uses copper for its water coolers. With the Aurora RADEON RX 6800/6900(XT) Eisblock, the copper is nickel-plated. Compared to its predecessor models, Alphacool has improved the nickel plating even further, which has considerably increased the acid resistance. This means that the nickel should resist flaking. Why does Alphacool rely on copper instead of aluminium? Simply, copper has almost twice the thermal conductivity of aluminium and is therefore clearly the better material for water cooling.Is There Anything Else New?The Eisblock Aurora RADEON RX 6800/6900(XT) also relies on the new patented stop fittings, which sit flush with the surface of the terminal. The Alphacool logo now sits in the corner on the top and is also fully illuminated. On the front of the terminal you can see the corresponding names of the compatible graphic card types. Of course, these are also fully illuminated by the digital LEDs. IN and OUT are now marked by small triangles. The Alphacool Eisblock ES Acetal GPX-N RTX 3080/3090 Turbo was specially developed for the Alphacool Enterprise series. The full-cover cooler with aluminium backplate cools the GPU and all important components such as voltage converters and the graphics memory directly with water. Connections to the top? Server cases offer different dimensions than normal PC cases. To save space in width and height, the connections were moved to the top. Another advantage is that it is easier to connect the tubing of a complete server rack with this kind of positioning of the connections. This means that even quick-release fasteners with G1/4" external thread can be screwed directly to the graphics card as already offered by Alphacool. More performance! With a thermal conductivity of 16 W/mk, it is one of the highest performing thermal pastes on the market. The electrically non-conductive thermal compund is particularly well suited for high contact pressures, but can still be processed perfectly due to its viscosity of 850000 TF. Alphacool Soft Pads with 1mm and 2mm thickness are used on the voltage converter and the graphics memory. The thermal conductivity of the pads is 7W/mK. The Alphacool Eisbecher Aurora glass reservoir uses a real glass tube rather than the usual plastic tube that Alphacool usually relies on. The embedded 5V digital RGB LED ring and the new design makes the reservoir look magnificent. Of course, the Lighttower water effect is used again. The mounting can be done via feet but also mounted on 120 or 140mm fan mounts or even directly to a radiator.Extensive mounting optionsThere are two basic mounting options, but these can be used in a versatile way. The Eisbecher Aurora glass reservoir has feet included so that it can be mounted to the bottom of the case, for example. However, Alphacool also includes mounting frames with which the Eisbecher Aurora can also be mounted on any 120 or 140 mm fan location.
