Coronado has developed a series of telescopes as a result of the often asked question, "What is the best telescope to use with a Coronado filter?" While almost all refractors and most reflecting telescopes can be used with a Coronado filter, no other telescope has been designed with all its optical aberrations and coatings optimised at H-Alpha. Most nighttime telescopes, when used at H-alpha, will not have the image contrast exhibited by a SolarMax nor the image quality. Most broadband coatings, used on such telescopes, will have reduced effectiveness at this wavelength and telescopesYear Coronado Warranty. (particularly reflectors) not specifically designed for Solar viewing, will exhibit unnecessary scattering and spurious light transmission. All of the Coronado scopes, even the PST, have been designed with this one wavelength of light in mind and will increase contrast and give you a darker background for viewing and imaging.  "Why buy a telescope that can only look at one object?" For those looking for more aperture we proudly present the SolarMax II 60 dedicated H-alpha telescope. Built to our exacting standards the SolarMax II 90's provides the user a telescope with the same lightweight portability of our SolarMax II 60 but the extra aperture greatly increases the resolution of detail on the surface and on the limb. With over twice the surface area of the SolarMax 60 the difference is obvious.  The SolarMax II 90 is the largest H-A telescope ever to be mass-produced and is in use around the world from private observatories to professional research facilities. Noted for incredibly sharp, 'contrasty' H-Alpha views, and stunning detail. Even when viewing with a single eyepiece the sun appears fully animated even revealing hints of curvature, this effect is enhanced when used with bino-viewers. The 2.3m Observatory is suitable if you have a 14" SC- or RC-Telescope. With sufficiently place for an instrument and two to three persons the Home model is particularly meant for ambitionierte amateurs, is suitable however perhaps even for smaller associations. The Home-Model is not motorised, motorisation for dome rotation and/or shutters is optional available. The School model with a diameter of 3.5m sufficient place for instruments with an opening of up to 600mm. This dome size is suitable for Newton telescopes, SC telescopes (like the LX200GPS 16") or a RC-telescope with 500mm opening on an equatorial Mount. In addition to our 2.3 metre Home Model, 3.5m School Model and 6.7m University Models, demand from customers has meant we have increased the size of the Sirius family to include the 5 metre College Model. This latest design gives plenty of room, yet is still small enough that it can be put together without a specialist supervisor. An easy to follow instruction manual is sent with every observatory sold. All our observatories are made from extremely high quality materials, yielding a deterioration rate of only 0.1% per annum after 20 years under normal conditions, if properly maintained. We can provide them in any colour, although most people choose white to keep things cool in the summer months. For those that prefer a simple approach to life, the 2.3m and 3.5m can come in either a manual or a motorised version. (The 5m and 6.7m are too large to operate manually.)
