The healing effects of the forest in integrative therapy are the focus of this book. Special emphasis is placed on teaching active forest life exercises that can be used in therapeutic practice in individual and group settings. The attitude of complex mindfulness and lived integrative ecopsychosomatics open up possibilities of a care for the world in a time of alienation from nature with a simultaneous longing for nature; the commitment to the preservation of nature strengthens an experience of solidarity and is at the same time effective self-care.

The brilliantly told but harrowing story of the Borneo Death Marches of 1944-5. After the fall of Singapore in 1942, the conquering Japanese Army transferred some 2500 British and Australian prisoners to a jungle camp at Sandakan, on the east coast of North Borneo. There they were beaten, broken, worked to death, thrown into bamboo cages on the slightest pretext and subjected to tortures so ingenious and hideous that the victims were driven to the brink of madness. But it was only to be the beginning of the nightmare. In late 1944 when Allied aircraft began bombing the coastal towns of Sandakan and Jesselton, the Japanese resolved to abandon the prison camp and move the prisoners 250 miles inland to Ranau. The journey there became known as the Sandakan Death marches. Of the thousand plus prisoners who set out on the epic marches, only six survived. This is both their story and the story of the fallen. WORD The Universal Spirit,U.S. Reincarnation - Life's Gift of Grace: Where does the journey of my soul go? UK ed.
GTIN: 9781890841645 Raamatud
A spiritual book on reincarnation. Is there a life after death? Clear and unambiguous answers to an age-old question about eternal life. Where is our homeland? Are we at home in this world? Or are we only passing through? Is it visible matter that carries us or did we come from somewhere else? Feelings and thoughts, vague inklings, have been raised by humankind since the beginning of time on the wherefrom and whereto, the whys and what fors. Seldom have these questions been answered so clearly and unmistakably as by Gabriele, the teaching prophetess and emissary of the eternal kingdom. The knowledge of reincarnation opens our eyes to understanding the meaning of our life, why we are on Earth and what task we have: namely, the chance to use our existence on Earth and develop ourselves back to what we are in our spiritual origin: divine beings, whose life lasts eternally. Reincarnation is a life-changing message, which was also known in Early Christianity before the emerging church of power supplanted it. This book delivers facts on how and why the knowledge about life after death, about karma and reincarnation disappeared from western Christianity. It answers fundamental question of humankind and clarifies many errors and wrong ideas about reincarnation. Samples from the book: "What course would history have taken if a large part of mankind had known that negative deeds could fall back on the perpetrator in this or a future life on earth, if he did not repent in time and ask for forgiveness! Would there have been so many wars 'in the name of God; for instance, or the unscrupulous exploitation of nature, the effects of which we are experiencing today?" "Often we hear: 'Reincarnation? Thats not Christian!' But what is Christian? Christian is to do what Jesus taught us. And when we do not do what Jesus taught us think of his Sermon on the Mount or Gods Ten Commandments given through Moses then this is un-Christian; it is a sin and we burden ourselves. Where does this burdening go? It goes into our soul. ... The particles of a pure spirit body can be compared to shining, spiritual pearls. Through unlawful thinking and acting, the person causes shadows on these pearls in his soul ... Reincarnation excludes the concepts of 'eternal damnation' as well as a 'punishing God.' It is a chance for the soul to become free of these shadows ..." Autorid: House Gabriele Publishing

In 1963 Stephen Hawking was given two years to live. Defying all the odds, he died in March 2018 at age seventy-six as the most celebrated scientist in the world. This carefully researched and updated biography and tribute gives a rich picture of Hawking's remarkable life - his childhood, the heart-rending beginning of his struggle with motor neurone disease, his ever-increasing international fame, and his long personal battle for survival in pursuit of a scientific understanding of the universe. From more recent years, Kitty Ferguson describes his inspiring leadership at the London Paralympic Games, the release of the film The Theory of Everything, his continuing work on black holes and the origin of the universe, the discovery of 'supertranslations', and the astounding 'Starshot' program. Here also are his intense concern for the future of the Earth and his use of his celebrity to fight for environmental and humanitarian causes, and, finally, a ground-breaking paper he was working on at the time of his death, in which he took issue with some of his own earlier theories. Throughout, Ferguson summarizes and explains the cutting-edge science in which Hawking was engaged and offers vivid first-hand descriptions of his funeral in Cambridge and the interment of his ashes in Westminster Abbey. This is an amazing and revealing tribute, assessing Hawking's legacy in and out of science. Autorid: Kitty Ferguson

Presses Académiques Francophones Contributions to the study of quantum correlations: Behavior of quantum correlations
Tootekood: A30198188 GTIN: 9783841643018 Raamatud
In this book, we focus our attention on the study of general quantum correlations in both closed and open quantum systems. Our objective is showing their relevance for a thorough understanding of the quantum information processing and of the underlying dynamical processes. In this context, we investigated comparatively their behavior for Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ)-type squeezed states. Moreover, we processed the environmental eects on their dynamics in the case of Bell diagonal states. On the other hand, in the same direction, we borrowed the Wigner function from quantum optics to address its pertinence in detecting and quantifying these correlations. In this respect, by using the negativity of Wigner function we studied the quantum correlations that are present in Werner states made of continuous variables bipartite states (squeezed states and coherent states). We deem that the study performed in this book does represent a major step forward in understanding the quantum correlations, quantum entanglement and quantum discord, the associated properties and their behavior in continuous variable mixed states.

GTIN: 9780300284164 Raamatud
"A showcase of sculptural works by contemporary artists from around the world"-- Provided by publisher. "In 2020 the Clark opened Ground/work, an exhibition of monumental sculpture by six artists situated in the landscape surrounding the museum. Ground/work 2025 once again features commissioned works located throughout the grounds. This time there is a focus on global conceptions of craft: the means by which artists transform the world around them. Each of the six participating artists exemplifies the way that artisanal traditions can be reinvented, generating contemporary form and meaning. Participants are Laura Ellen Bacon, Aboubakar Fofana, Hugh Hayden, Milena Naef, Javier Senosiain, and Akiyama Yo. The hardcover exhibition catalogue will not only serve as a document for the exhibition, but it will also explore larger conversations around craft and making. The publication will feature an essay by curator and volume editor Glenn Adamson framing the exhibition and the texts to follow. Adamson will also write shorter texts focused on each object, diving deeper into each artist's practice and the newly commissioned work. Four additional contributors will write short reflective texts on the Clark's campus at different times of day: morning, afternoon, evening, and night. The catalogue will be beautifully illustrated with photography of each object at these same times of day, further emphasizing the twenty-four-hour presence of the works on the Clark's grounds"-- Provided by publisher. A showcase of sculptural works by contemporary artists from around the world In 2020, the Clark Art Institute opened Ground/Work, an exhibition of monumental sculptures by six women artists that were situated poetically in the bucolic Massachusetts landscape around the museum. Ground/Work 2025 reprises the premise, this time featuring commissioned works with a focus on global conceptions of craft: the means by which artists transform the world around them. Each of the six participating artists—Laura Ellen Bacon (b. 1976), Aboubakar Fofana (b. 1967), Hugh Hayden (b. 1983), Minela Naef (b. 1990), Javier Senosiain (b. 1948), and Yo Akiyama (b. 1953)—exemplifies the way that artisanal traditions can be reinvented, generating contemporary form and meaning. Their works employ a range of materials, including clay, willow, mosaic, stone, wood, and indigo dyeing. This handsome volume documents the exhibition, providing an in-depth look into the stories of the artworks’ creation. Four of the book’s essays are reflective texts on the Clark’s campus at different times of day: morning, afternoon, evening, and night, enlivened with beautiful photography of each object in the exhibition at these same times of day. Additionally, the book explores larger conversations around craft and making. Distributed for the Clark Art Institute Exhibition Schedule: Clark Art Institute, Williamstown, MA (June 28, 2025–October 12, 2026) Autorid: Glenn Adamson, Sara Houghteling, Gage McWeeny, Brandon O. Scott, Robert Wiesenberger
