Ada, or Ardor is no less than the supreme work of an imagination at white heat.§This is the first American edition to include the extensive and ingeniously sardonic appendix by the author, written under the anagrammatic pseudonym Vivian Darkbloom.

When Luke Wright received his as a teenager, he didn't think much of it. But now, married to a social worker and seeing the care she takes with these letters, he re-examines his own past - and the life he might have had. Should he feel close to the biological brothers he knows only through social media? Do his beginnings in a notorious tower-block estate counteract the privilege of a sheltered suburban upbringing? How grateful should he be to adopted parents who are - in the end - simply parents? In this memoir in poetry, no emotion is simple or expected. Wright writes with pinpoint honesty, teasing out the nuances of family, memory and belonging, and illuminating the gaps in the familiar beats of an adoption story. Throughout our lives, we inevitably face conflict with those around us-those we live with, those in the church community, those at work and those with whom we interact in our daily lives. As conflict arises, we have a choice regarding how to deal with it. Generally, there are two approaches to conflict resolution: a worldly approach, and a spiritual, biblically-based approach. The first usually centers on egotistical principles of physical self-protection; sadly, though, while that approach can temporarily seem satisfying, it eventually leads to negative results and loss of peace. The second approach-spiritual and biblically-based-leads to truly resolving conflict and to inner healing. This booklet, based on lectures given by His Grace Bishop Youssef at the Institute of Counseling in Maadi, Cairo, addresses these approaches and the psychological nuances one experiences once the decision is made to approach the conflict worldly or spiritually.
