In 1208 Pope Innocent III called for a Crusade against a country of fellow-Christians. The new enemy was Raymond VI, Count of Toulouse, one of the greatest princes in Western Christendom, premier baron of all the territories in southern France where the langue d'oc was spoken. So began the Albigensian Crusade (named after the French town of Albi), which was to culminate in 1244 with the massacre of Cathars at the mountain fortress of Montsegur. This Crusade was the Catholic Church's response to the rapid growth of a rival Christian religion in the very heart of Christendom - the religion of the Cathars (or 'pure ones'). These heretics drew their strength from the consciousness of belonging to a faith that had never seen eye to eye with Catholicism and was more ancient than the Church itself. From the beginning this religious war was to show all the characteristics of a national resistance movement, so that in the end it was not just the survival of the Cathar faith that was at stake but also that of the Languedoc itself as an autonomous and independent region of France.

'Gripping and gritty, this book will keep you hooked from the first page to the last.' Roberta Kray Liberty Chapman had a difficult childhood. The oldest of four kids, she tried to protect them from their violent father until one day he murdered their mother and got sent down. What was left of the family rattled through the care system, bouncing from foster placement to care home. Liberty would have probably ended up on drugs, or dead, or worse if it hadn't been for a ballsy solicitor who told her to get her act together. So that's what she did. She kept her nose clean, got an education. And look at her now. New name, new accent, new town. The past is far behind her and she's concentrating on her own legal career. She has a Porsche, a house in Hampstead... and then one morning her boss asks her to do a favour. He wants her to go to Leeds, to get an important client's son off an assault charge. But Leeds is in Liberty's past. And once she hits town, the past slaps her in the face... and pulls her back into what she worked so hard to leave behind.
'Gripping and gritty, this book will keep you hooked from the first page to the last' Roberta Kray One year on from being reunited with the family she abandoned, successful lawyer Liberty Chapman is still in Leeds - although she has stayed well away from the Greenwood's business activities. Their criminal life style may not sit right with Liberty, but blood is thicker than water and surely what they do is their business not hers? But when her youngest brother, Frankie, is seriously injured in a shooting, Liberty is forced to decide which side she is on and how far she will go to protect her own. And if that means torturing the local gangster for information or kidnapping another at gun point, then so be it. Turns out Liberty is a Greenwood after all. Meanwhile, PC Amira Hassani will do whatever it takes to put Liberty and her family away for good, and if that includes blackmailing her colleague Sol Connolly to secure evidence against them, then so be it too. Will Sol betray Liberty to protect his wife and his career? And how far will any of them go to do what they think is right? 'The Leeds setting is every bit as gritty as Kray's East End . . . hard as nails!' Peterborough Telegraph

Book Description Who controls the narrative-and why does it matter? From headlines that shape global politics to the subtle framing of daily news, the media has always been more than a mirror of reality-it is a weapon, a shield, and often, an architect of public opinion. Few topics reveal this more sharply than Zionism. Zionism and the Media is a powerful exploration of how media outlets, journalists, and institutions have influenced, defended, and in many cases justified the political project of Zionism. Through decades of selective reporting, silence on atrocities, and amplification of certain voices over others, the media has played a central role in shaping how the world sees Israel, Palestine, and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. In this thought-provoking book, readers will discover:The History of Media Influence: How Zionism and Western journalism developed a relationship that continues to this day. Bias and Silence: Why some stories make global headlines while others remain hidden. Shaping Public Opinion: The techniques used by newspapers, broadcasters, and digital platforms to sway hearts and minds. Political Power and the Press: How governments and lobby groups work hand-in-hand with media institutions. The Human Cost: What happens when truth is buried, and propaganda takes its place. Drawing on history, politics, and media studies, this book uncovers the strategies and mechanisms by which narratives are controlled. It challenges readers to ask difficult questions: Who decides what counts as news? Why are some voices silenced? And what does it mean for democracy when information itself becomes a battlefield? Accessible, deeply researched, and unflinching in its analysis, Zionism and the Media is not just a book about journalism-it is a book about power. It reveals how narratives are constructed and why understanding those narratives is essential for anyone seeking truth in a world of competing headlines. This book is for:Readers interested in politics, history, and media studies. Those who want to understand the Israel-Palestine conflict beyond surface-level reporting. Students, researchers, and critical thinkers who question how the media shapes reality. Anyone who believes in the importance of truth, justice, and accountability in journalism. In a world where information is more accessible than ever but truth feels increasingly elusive, Zionism and the Media offers clarity, courage, and insight. If you've ever wondered why some wars dominate the news cycle while others disappear, or why certain narratives become "common sense" while others are dismissed as fringe, this book will give you the tools to see the hidden architecture of media power. The story you've been told is not the only story. Discover the untold side of media and Zionism-and why it matters now more than ever.
