The book promotes a landscape approach as a method for understanding and addressing the complex interdependent issues of environmental and climatic change, ecological degradation, and socio-cultural inequalities. The twenty-three book essays are structured into five sections around concepts of urban landscape systems, ecology, politics, territory, and practice. By linking individual sites and local communities to territorial socio-ecological systems and processes, they discuss issues of urban growth and development, remote areas of extraction and production, environmental degradation and transformation, and social inequality and discrimination. While the book allows for parallel readings of such issues in multiple cultural and geographical contexts, a geographic focus is placed on Canada and other environmentally complex and sensitive northern regions. One key theme is the integration of Indigenous knowledge, experience, and storytelling throughout several of the chapters. The book draws lessons that are grounded in inclusive, contextual, and multi-scalar readings which suggest landscape-informed practices that are both socially and environmentally resilient, just, and sustainable. Maribels First Day is a narrative description of the first day of school experience for a teenage Mexican American high school student. During this one school day, Maribel Rivera goes to five teachers classrooms and describes what she sees, hears and determines how she will judge these experiences. She will assess and analyze the school, the staff, the teachers, and the instruction. As she discovers what is happening at the school for other students, she decides if the environment will contribute to her present search for identity and survival. The purpose of this book is to offer insights for perceptions of school experiences through the lens of a Mexican American female student. The book provides vivid descriptions of teacher instruction and student interactions collected through a research study. Through the use of this students narrative perspective, teachers, teacher leaders, instructional coaches, and campus administrators can create common language for building congruence in a culturally dissonant environment to impact relational and academic achievement for students of color and those from poverty. Never underestimate a librarian. Formed from the renaming of Midland Red East in January 1984, Midland Fox was one of the first to do away with National Bus Company (NBC) corporate red livery, opting instead for a bright-yellow-and-red scheme. It took on Leicester City Transport over restrictions on picking up and setting down passengers within Leicesters boundaries and won and introduced one of the largest minibus operations anywhere in the country. It went from the management buy-out in 1987, which took it out of the NBC, to become a constituent part of the Drawlane Group, later to become British Bus. Services covered the whole of Leicestershire, but Midland Fox buses and coaches could also be seen in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, the West Midlands, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire, and several smaller operators were bought out. Vehicle purchasing policy tended towards second-hand vehicles, though there were some notable acquisitions of new stock. In 1996, British Bus was sold to the Cowie Group. A year later its bus operations were renamed Arriva, and Midland Fox became Arriva Fox County, which is effectively where the Midland Fox story ends. Griegs Bühnenmusik zu Henrik Ibsens Drama "Peer Gynt" enthält einige seiner bekanntesten Kompositionen, etwa die "Morgenstimmung" oder "In der Halle des Bergkönigs". Grieg stellte die schönsten Stücke später zu zwei Orchestersuiten zusammen und richtete persönlich die Fassungen für Klavier zu zwei bzw. vier Händen ein. Eine Überraschung bei der Vorbereitung unserer Urtextausgabe: In Autograph und der ersten Druckauflage enthielt die 2. Suite noch einen weiteren Satz, den "Tanz der Bergkönigstochter", den Grieg kurze Zeit später wieder strich. Im Anhang unserer Ausgabe erscheint dieser hübschen Tanz erstmals seit über 120 Jahren wieder im Druck!
