The nursing profession has been identified as the largest healthcare profession using the internet and its requests to participate in continuing education (CE) are increasing. This project addressed an identified need to create, implement, and evaluate an educational intervention to measure knowledge gains and retention between a face-to-face and web-based course for Registered Nurses (RNs). Quantitative methods were used to address the research problem for RNs that treat the geriatric population. A curriculum for an oral health CE course was developed for RNs that treat the geriatric population and presented in a web-based and face-to-face course. The same oral health education material was used for both CE formats. A literature review demonstrating effective curricular, instructional and evaluative strategies for continuing professional healthcare education as well as a review of several theories in the psychology of adult learning and its application to continuing professional healthcare education was conducted. A multiple question test was developed and the same test questions, ordered differently, were given to RNs as the pre-test, post-test and one week retention test.

Situated in an active tectonic region, Santiago de Chile, the country¿s capital with more than six million inhabitants, faces tremendous earthquake hazard. Macroseismic data for the 1985 Valparaiso and the 2010 Maule events show large variations in the distribution of damage to buildings within short distances indicating strong influence of local sediments and the shape of the sediment-bedrock interface on ground motion. Therefore, a temporary seismic network was installed in the urban area for recording earthquake activity, and a study was carried out aiming to estimate site amplification derived from earthquake data and ambient noise. The analysis of earthquake data shows significant dependence on the local geological structure with regards to amplitude and duration. By inverting the noise spectral rations, local shear wave velocity profiles could be derived, allowing also deeper parts of the basin to be represented in great detail. Using the attained velocity model, simulations of ground motion show that the unfavorable interaction between fault rupture, radiation mechanism, and complex geological conditions considerably increase the level of seismic risk for Santiago de Chile.

Air Pollution within the UAE is a prevalent issue and has been for decades on end. The situation only seems to be getting worse, due to the collateral effects of urbanization. Dubai expects to host 25 million new visitors, thus the city looks to expand its urban sprawl, taking into account new construction projects, a greater population influx and higher numbers of vehicular usage (motorisation). Worldpopulationreview.com reported that Dubai's population has been increasing at a rate of 10.3% as of late 2016, making it one of the world's fastest-growing cities. Sharjah on the other hand, a city 30km away from Dubai, also seems to be expanding, through growing industrial activity and a greater number of labour and working-class residents settling in the Emirate within a relatively small surface area. A high frequency of factories litter Sharjah's industrial areas, and densely packed traffic of heavy vehicles going to and coming from Dubai feed into the fumes released into the atmosphere. Moreover, both cities lie close to Dubai International Airport, one of the world's busiest and most crowded airports. Lastly, Dubai possesses a greater density of vegetation per sq km due to scattered golf courses, green neighbourhoods and public parks. As for Sharjah, it is clear that a majority of the land area is occupied by residential buildings, factories and offices; with fewer parks and vegetational cover. It is evident that a myriad of factors come into play when determining the levels of air pollution between the two cities and it is crucial to compare the various effects and impacts of air pollution on the people of each city.

Successful people are attracted to successful cities and it is perhaps no surprise that these centres are ranked so high by financial services professionals.¿ Both financial centres profit from Switzerland¿s environment which provides legal stability, and high living-standards and as a result, both financial clusters play an important role in the global business of finance. This paper aims to analyse the current situation as well to provide an outlook for the future. Due to the limited time as well the limited scope, this paper focuses only on the banking sector, mainly analysing twelve major financial institutions with a strong national presence. Section 2 covers the background and history of both financial centre, Geneva and Zurich. Section 3 provides a short overview of the market structure of the financial sector as a whole in each financial centre, describing the number of market participants as well as the offered products and services. Section 4 contains information regarding the competition in both financial clusters in Switzerland and measures competition using the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI) on two selected examples. Section 5 provides an empirical analysis of the profitability of both financial centre using carefully selected key-performance-indicators (KPI).
