A mind-blowing epic from Keanu Reeves and China Miéville, unlike anything these two genre-bending pioneers have created before, inspired by the world of the BRZRKR comic books. 'An exceptionally innovative collaboration from two remarkable minds.’William Gibson, author of Neuromancer'What an extraordinary book! China Miéville’s brilliance as a writer combined with Keanu Reeves’s quite magnificently wild imagination make for a compulsive read. Unlike anything else.Boom!’ Stephen Fry'A gripping, hugely intelligent and beautifully-realised nightmare. It’s clever, brilliant and horrifying.’Daily Mail'A pulpy, adrenaline-fueled thriller, but it’s also a moody, experimental novel about mortality, the slippery nature of time and what it means to be human.’New York Times'Bloody fun.' Telegraph'Reeves and Mieville’s novel turns a (literally) comic book into a meditation on what it means to be truly alive that’s both affecting and enigmatic.’SFX-------------------------------She said, We needed a tool. So I asked the gods. There have always been whispers. Legends. The warrior who cannot be killed.Who’s seen a thousand civilizations rise and fall. He has had many names: Unute, Child of Lightning, Death himself. These days, he’s known simply as "B.”And he wants to be able to die.In the present day, a U.S. black-ops group has promised him they can help with that. And all he needs to do is help them in return. But when an all-too-mortal soldier comes back to life, the impossible event ultimately points toward a force even more mysterious than B himself. One at least as strong. And one with a plan all its own.In a collaboration that combines Miéville’s singular style and creativity with Reeves’s haunting and soul-stirring narrative, these two inimitable artists have created something utterly unique, sure to delight existing fans and to create scores of new ones. 'A delight . .. let Keanu Reeves punch and shoot his way onto your summer reading list … a philosophical, violent thriller about an immortal soldier pondering the nature of existence, The Book of Elsewhere has an elegance that might surprise you for a pulp thriller.’Polygon'Stylistically daring, combining sf, fantasy, parascience, history, and action. It’s violent, propulsive, and introspective, ultimately offering a philosophical exploration of identity and the meaning of mortality, chaos, and entropy.. . whatever it is, it works.’Booklist'It’s clear that Reeves and Miéville are having fun with the tale and its often playful, even poetic language.. . a well-written treat for fans of modern mythologizing.’Kirkus Reviews

'The best book on games I've read in years' G.T. KARBER, the number one Sunday Times bestselling author of MURDLE'Clare is a fabulous tour guide through the history of table games' Tom Brewster, presenter of Shut Up & Sit DownWhy is playing games a universal human instinct? Why did the same games evolve across wildly different civilisations? And how can those games make your life happier, healthier and more fulfilled? The history of board games is really the history of human civilisation. Through it we see how our species has learned to live with one another, make deals, take on different roles and manage the ups and downs of luck.In this entertaining and thought-provoking look at games through the ages, Tim Clare explores the legal highs of a good dice roll, the thrills of a predatory race game and the tactile pleasures of the games that age with us through our lives to discover how, through play, we become fully ourselves.Drawing on Roman anti-cheating devices, organised crime card syndicates and the combative domestic bonding ritual of Monopoly, The Game Changers explains why games are more popular now than ever, and how playing them helps us learn to be better losers, make smarter decisions and become more human.

Intended to be "unlistenable," Germany's Einstürzende Neubauten's 1981-debut album Kollaps has attracted listeners four decades after it was recorded. Perhaps the best musical encapsulation of the Cold War as experienced in the walled city of West Berlin, Kollaps is a product of its time while remaining as vital, exhilarating and surprising as the day it was released. The book explores the contexts, themes, and influences that shaped Kollaps. It describes the early days of Einstürzende Neubauten in West Berlin, the manic energy of their performances, their use of scrap metal, drill hammers, bodily sounds, and tape loops, their preoccupation with nihilism and subversion, and what Nick Cave called the "incredibly mournful, haunting" nature of their music. The beginning of a 40-year career, this first burst of energy remains their purest statement.

'(Heather Christle is] among the small handful of authors whose books I reflexively, half-consciously reach toward whenever I need inspiration, consolation, delight. Nobody thinks like her' Kaveh Akbar, Electric Literature 'This is a stunning book' Jericho Brown 'A striking celebration of risk and beauty' Kit Fan, Guardian Paper Crown is Heather Christle's first new collection of poems in over a decade. Throughout these exuberant poems, Christle conjures moments when the world's events - a child's words, early twentieth-century predictions of drone warfare, dinners with friends - alight themselves with the odd logic of dreams and serendipity. With tenderness and verse, honesty and curiosity, Paper Crown invites readers to look up from its pages and recognise that the day going on around them could very well be its own poem. Mistake For years I have seen dead animals on the highway and grieved for them only to realize they are not dead animals they are t shirts or bits of blown tire and I have found myself with this excess of grief I have made with no object to let it spill over and I have not known where to put it or keep it and then today I thought I know I can give it to you

The global triumph of democracy was announced thirty years ago, promising an age of consensus in which the dispassionate consideration of objective problems would give birth to a world at peace. Today, these grand hopes lie in ruins, and the era touted as new has turned out to be remarkably similar to the old order. To understand why this might be so, we need to examine the nature of the consensus itself, which is not the peace that it promised but rather the map of a territory on which new forms of warfare are being waged. The objective reality that imposed itself at the end of the 1990s was an absolutized and globalized capitalism which has produced ever more inequality, exclusion and hate. In this book Jacques Rancière delivers a frank and piercing critique of the globalized capitalist consensus. The invasion of Iraq, the riots on Capitol Hill and the rise of the European far right all attest to the true nature of this consensus, as does the current state-sanctioned racism which exploits the disenchanted progressive tradition and is led by an intelligentsia that claims to be left-wing. At the same time, Rancière praises the dynamism of social movements which affirm the power of the assembly of equals and its capacity for worldmaking: autonomous protest collectives have proven themselves capable of opening breaches in the consensual order and challenging the post-1989 system of domination. Legends of Today brings together the first three volumes that Enki Bilal has created in collaboration with the scriptwriter Pierre Christin: The Cruise of Forgotten (1975), The Stone Vessel (1976) and The City That Did Not Exist (1977). Antagonised by an enigmatic character with supernatural powers, which serves as a theme for the trilogy, the three stories delve into the lives of various traditional communities (a village of the Landes, a Breton fishing port, a small working-class town in the North) as they fight against the police, the army, and all those in power, whose action, at the time, was very controversial. An endearing panorama of the generous utopias of the time, nourished by modern fantasy and a certain humor that still preserves freshness today. Autorid: Enki Bilal, Pierre Christin
